Chaska Baseball Extra Innings: March 2023

LAST CALL: Youth & Community Registration Ends 3/11:

Youth and Community League registration closes Saturday, March 11th @ 11:59pm. Youth players are the backbone of our program. Tell your friends and help us build participation in 2023!

Reminder of 2023 Youth League Schedule:

  • 7-8 year old’s will now play Tuesdays and Thursdays with practice on Saturdays.
  • 9-10 year old’s will now play Mondays and Wednesdays with practice on Fridays. 
  • Changes to format are designed to address parent feedback desiring more practice.


Youth & Community Player Evaluations (aka. Expo):
The “Youth Expo” is Saturday, March 18th @ Chaska HS. This event includes player evaluations, uniform sizing, and collection of volunteer form/deposit. Please review and familiar yourself with the Volunteer Policy, as you will sign it at the Expo. Players will be broken into timeslots based on last name. Please arrive within your timeslot and check-in at the Chaska HS Commons. Players should bring a water bottle, mitt, and bat (no cleats). Parents are welcome to wait in the commons for your player to return.

Check in times:

  • 7/8 A-H   11:00a-11:30pm
  • 7/8 I-P     11:30p-12:00pm
  • 7/8 Q-Z   12:00p-12:30pm
  • 9/10 A-H   1:00p-1:30pm
  • 9/10 I-P     1:30p-2:00pm
  • 9/10 Q-Z   2:00p-2:30pm
  • Community: 3:00p - 3:15pm


DIBS for the Expo:
Helped needed! Crank out one of your required volunteers shifts before the season starts. We still have several positions open and need your help! Please sign up for a shift using the DIBS portal.

Coaches Meeting: 
Our player development director, Mike, will be hosting a meeting with prospective Youth and Community League coaches. Please try to attend if you are intending to coach this season. Each meeting will take place in the CHS Common towards the back.

  • 7/8-year-old coaches will meet at 11:30 AM
  • 9/10-year-old coaches will meet at 1:30 PM 

 

Coming Soon: Spring Apparel Store- Quick Turnaround:
CBA will offer a Spring Apparel Shop opening in the next few days. Due to continue supply chain issues, selection of in-stock items will be limited, and the order deadline will be extremely tight. Watch for a separate email with these details and be prepared to act quickly!

Get 20% off your entire purchase at Dick’s Sporting Goods this weekend. Chaska Baseball is aligned with Metro Baseball League for our travel program, so we are eligible for this discount. Make sure to save and bring to store.

Travel Players: Considering a new bat this year? Make sure you understand MBL’s bat rule before you purchase! Note: No changes to the 2023 bat rule from last year.

State Tournament Dates (MBL + Gopher State):
Travel Players/Coaches- MBL and Gopher State have released their state tournament dates. See flyers below and mark your calendars accordingly. Remember, your team must qualify for a berth into these tournaments. If you choose to attend, they are not included in your registration fee and will be team-funded.

SAVE THE DATE: Pitch, Hit, Run Competition Present by MLB:
Chaska Baseball has another amazing opportunity to host a Pitch, Hit and Run competition in partnership with Major League Baseball! This is a completely free event open to all 7 to 14-year-olds in Chaska and neighboring communities and will take place Friday, May 26th. Registration and additional details will be provided in March newsletter.

Join the Board & Board Rotations:
CBA is seeking a volunteer to lead our Community League program. Give back to your community and fulfill your volunteer requirements in one swoop. 2-year commitment requested. Please contact president@playballhawks.com for details.

JOIN US! Burger Night 3/15 @ Chaska VFW:
Need quick & easy dinner plans as you run between winter sports? CBA is continuing to partner with Chaska VFW to host Burger Night the 3rd Wednesday of each month. $4 will get you a delicious, made-to-order burger and chips. This is a great way to continue building our baseball community and raise funds to go towards equipment and other needs.
