CBA is excited to launch 2022 registration for 9-12u travel baseball! This is a long but important communication, so please read on… Our travel program is sanctioned under the Metro Baseball League (MBL), which establishes the rules, schedule, and structure of play. Per MBL guidelines 9-12u baseball is defined as:

  • 9u- Player does not turn 10 before 5/1/2022 (typically entering 3rd grade)
  • 10u- Player does not turn 11 before 5/1/2022 (typically entering 4th grade)
  • 11u- Player does not turn 12 before 5/1/2022 (typically entering 5th grade)
  • 12u- Player does not turn 13 before 5/1/2022 (typically entering 6th grade)
  • We strongly urge kids to play with current grade-level peers whenever possible

This registration does NOT include our Youth & Community League (in-house programs), nor 13-14u travel baseball. Those registrations will be posted late-January.

New This Year:

  • 9u Option: We are thrilled to offer a new travel baseball option for 9u players! This option will include a full MBL schedule and 3-4 weekend tournaments. The goal of this program is to expose and develop our young players towards competitive teams at later ages. Teams will be fielded at AAA and/or AA depending on tryout results.
  • Bat Rule: Starting this fall, MBL will now allow USSSA bats in addition to the current USA models. This rule will be in effect for tryouts and the 2022 summer season. For specifics, please visit the TRAVEL BASEBALL PAGE. Make sure you are compliant for tryouts!
  • Team Leveling: To ensure we provide players a great, competitive experience we are adjusting the way teams are leveled. A given team will need to meet minimum performance thresholds (as individuals) to form the next highest team. Example: Top 12 players from 10u all met the minimum threshold, so they will form at AAA. Several of the next players ranked 13-24 did not meet the minimum performance threshold, so this team will form at A instead of AA.

Volunteer Deposit:  We are raising the volunteer deposit to $425 in 2022. No! We’re not doing this to be mean… this gets us aligned with surrounding programs and represents the significance of volunteer support to successfully run this program! Want a head start on your hours? All prospective players may volunteer for CONCESSION SHIFTS at the State Amateur Tournament in August and get hours applied to 2022!

Tryouts:

Tryouts will take place Saturday, 9/11 and 9/18 from 12-6pm at the Chaska Dome. Players will be broken into groups by age and given staggered start times within that window. The final schedule and details will be communicated in early September. Players MUST be fully registered in SportsEngine and attend each session to be considered for a team… Sorry, no exceptions on this one.

NOTE: We are aware of CCFA Picture Day on 9/11 and Saturday games. We will be working with CCFA to avoid calendar conflicts and will make schedule corrections as necessary.

Coaches:

Our travel program is dependent on dedicated, baseball savvy coaches. Each travel team will consist of one head coach and up to three assistants OR two Assistants and a Team Manager. All these roles fulfill your player’s annual volunteer requirement. Required steps (1) indicate your coaching interest within your player’s registration where prompted (2) Complete the attached Coach Application and email to our VP-Travel Baseball.

We are poised for another great year with a goal to increase overall participation. Tell your friends and register soon!
